The Government of Zimbabwe has prioritised energy projects as one of the key enablers to economic growth and development. The prioritised projects include new plants and the optimization of existing plants and are expected to add additional power to the grid as follows:
Public procurement in Zimbabwe is centralised at the SPB (State Procurement Board). The SPB's mandate is to regulate and manage the procurement processes for all public entities in Zimbabwe, in accordance with public procurement legislation. The need to comply with SPB processes is the reason why many projects are behind schedule.
