Supply and Installation of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System
The project includes installation, testing, commissioning, and on-site training to ensure a fully operational energy storage system that meets predefined technical criteria.
Cambodia is undergoing a transformative shift toward renewable energy, with solar power emerging as a crucial solution to the country's growing energy demands.
Solar energy presents a transformative opportunity for Cambodia, addressing energy security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. With continued investments, policy improvements, and technological advancements, Cambodia is well-positioned to become a regional leader in renewable energy. To accelerate this transition:
1. The Current State of Solar Energy in Cambodia Cambodia's solar energy sector has grown significantly in recent years. As of 2022, the country had installed around 432 MW of solar capacity, with a goal of reaching 1,000 MW by 2030.
Cambodia has significant opportunity to consider using floating solar technology due to its existing hydropower dams. The Mekong Infrastructure Tracker shows that there are four dams – the Lower Sesan 2, Stung Atay, Stung Tatay, and Kamchay dams – which have sizeable reservoirs of over 10sq km. These reservoirs could potentially be used for floating solar installations.
